Description

The Falls Church, a vibrant and progressive, Episcopal parish in the heart of Falls Church, is seeking a quarter-time Youth Director to guide and support our ministry with students in grades 6–12. We are a community committed to following Jesus in ways that are thoughtful, inclusive, and engaged with the world.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate weekly Christian formation for middle and high school students in consultation with Director of Family Ministries
  • Oversee Confirmation preparation in partnership with clergy
  • Plan a sustainable rhythm of youth ministry events (monthly gatherings, quarterly retreats/service projects).
  • Be present at youth events, fostering relationships and pastoral support
  • Recruit and train a small team of adult volunteers
  • Communicate with youth, families, clergy, and staff.
  • Build supportive relationships with youth and their families, offering encouragement and care.

Sample Weekly Rhythm (10–15 hours):

  • Sunday: 3–5 hrs (Christian formation, presence at worship, connecting with youth).
  • Planning & Curriculum: 2 hrs.
  • Volunteer coordination: 1 hr.
  • Communications (emails, check-ins, social media): 1 hr.
  • Event planning/leadership (avg.): 2–3 hrs.
  • Pastoral check-ins/family contact: 1–2 hrs.

 

Desired Skills

Qualifications:

  • Committed Christian with a heart for youth and families.
  • Experience in youth ministry (parish, diocesan, or related setting).
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Familiarity with Episcopal tradition and resources preferred.

Salary

$15,000-$16,250

Benefits

This is a quarter-time position (10–15 hours/week) and reports to the Director of Family Ministries. Compensation will be commensurate with experience and diocesan guidelines.
