The West River Center is a United Methodist Camp and Retreat Center just south of Annapolis, MD.
Over the summer, we run 7 weeks of day and overnight programs for camper going into 1st through 12th grade. We have several summer staff positions available: in cabin counselors (campers main point of contact, take campers to activities and build relationships with them), day camp counselors (similar to in cabin counselors except our day campers are only on site from 9am to 5pm), program staff (run activities for campers and large group gatherings, everything from belaying at the rock wall to helping lead worship), and worship leader/ chaplain (helps campers and staff with faith questions, leads music at worship, helps prepare worship every night and lead Bible studies). Because camp has such a wide variety of things going on at any given time, it would be possible to combine or piece together some of these roles to make a slightly different role if a candidate’s skills and camp’s needs align.
This is an excellent opportunity for a summer intensive to see how different age levels work and practice skills of leading games, Bible studies, communicating with peers and children, and growing leadership skills.
