Free Lesson on Anxiety for Youth

Description

In this lesson, your group will engage in a “low stakes” activity where they’re asked to make balloon animals. As the activity unfolds, an element of competition will be introduced to create a level of performance anxiety. Later, students will reflect on their experiences together.

The lesson also includes a theological reflection that is based on two readings: the Sermon on the Mount in Matthew 6:25-50, and Henri Nouwen’s book, “Life of the Beloved.” Students will be invited into a generative conversation about anxiety that’s rooted in scripture and will have space to reorient their thoughts about anxiety.
