Make Church Work More Fun – #4 Share Stories

Church staff’s are notorious for not having any fun.  Everyone on staffs task list is longer than they can possible do on their own.  We get together and talk about all the details of what needs to happen and to get our marching orders, then we run to our corners to scurry around some more.  Just as church staff’s fail to celebrate, they fail to share with each other the amazing things God is doing through their ministry.
This is the fourth post in the series 5 Things to Make Church Work More Fun .  God is moving in our midst.  Sometimes, we fail to see Him; and sometimes we fail to tell others when we do.
Working for the church would be more fun if we would … STOP! … for a second and stand in AWE of what God has done together.  Youth Ministers can bring this gift to the staff by sharing stories about how God is invading the lives of teenagers and how we were privileged to be there.
Our staff is still talking about the story I shared about Camp Barnabas (www.campbarnabas.org – a special needs camp where you’ll experience heaven on earth) and what one of our seniors said about their humbling experience of serving someone else and their desire to answer a call to serve others.
Telling stories of what God is doing reminds us of the real reason that we all scurry around in the first place.
