Job Summary

Description

Currently, there are 43 sixth through twelfth graders listed in the church database. During a typical week, 15 of them participate in the Sunday morning youth group, sanctuary worship, or the youth music program. The youth have historically participated in retreats and local service opportunities, and youth conferences at the Montreat Conference Center and summer mission trips. Ministry programming includes Confirmation, Youth Sunday, and participation in different service opportunities.

The dedicated youth facility features a welcoming, well-equipped environment that can host a variety of youth gatherings. Future development may include inviting outdoor activity spaces within the surrounding exterior.

We’re looking for candidates who possess a strong and active personal faith, demonstrate a proactive and innovative approach to ministry with a vision for growth and development, and who connect effectively with teens and their parents.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the creation and implementation of engaging spiritual formation programs for 6th-12th graders, with the goal of increasing spiritual growth and participation.
  • Recruit, train, and support a strong team of volunteers.
  • Build strong relationships between students, and between students and volunteers, in a safe environment.
  • Develop relationships with students and families by attending student events and encouraging volunteers to do the same.
  • Create welcoming and engaging physical spaces for youth ministry activities.
  • Build and maintain effective operational systems for communication, database management, calendaring, event planning, and other essential ministry functions.

  • Ability to relate to youth in a fun and approachable way, while maintaining appropriate boundaries.
  • Entrepreneurial and innovative mindset for creating engaging ministry solutions.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Christian ministry, education. or related field (Master’s preferred)
  • Minimum two years of relevant experience in Christian ministry (may include a combination of work and volunteer).
