Job Summary

Responsibilities

  • Develop and Lead Children’s Faith Formation Programs:
    Oversee Sunday School, Worship & Wonder, Vacation Bible School, and Wednesday night programming to ensure engaging, age-appropriate faith experiences for children from birth through 5th grade.
  • Collaborate with Families and Church Staff:
    Partner with parents and caregivers to support children’s spiritual growth, while working collaboratively with church leadership, volunteers, and staff to maintain a cohesive ministry team.
  • Supervise and Support Nursery and Volunteer Staff:
    Provide oversight, scheduling, and guidance for nursery staff and volunteers, ensuring safe, loving, and well-organized environments for children during church activities.
  • Plan and Execute Special Events and Worship Participation:
    Coordinate and lead children’s involvement in worship services (e.g., Time with Younger Church, baptisms), as well as organize family events and church-wide celebrations throughout the year.

Desired Skills

  • Strong Organizational and Leadership Skills:
    Proven ability to manage multiple moving parts, prioritize tasks, and follow through on planning and execution of programs and events.
  • Experience in Children’s Ministry or Related Fields:
    Background in Christian education, early childhood development, or ministry leadership, with demonstrated experience leading children’s programs.
  • Creative and Collaborative Mindset:
    Ability to think imaginatively about faith formation, while working effectively within a team environment and building positive relationships with children, families, and colleagues.
  • Commitment to Nurturing Faith in Children and Families:
    Passion for helping children grow spiritually and supporting parents in their role as faith mentors, grounded in a theology that aligns with Idlewild’s progressive and inclusive values.

Salary

$50,000-$60,000 per year
