Ministry Leadership Center (MLC) is proud to celebrate a remarkable honor bestowed upon one of its own, Rev. Terence Mayo, Chief Academic Officer and Community Ministry Director, was inducted into the Martin Luther King Jr. Board of Preachers at Morehouse College in April 2026 — one of the most distinguished recognitions in faith leadership today.
The induction took place during Morehouse College’s 41st Annual MLK Jr. College of Ministers & Laity program, a signature event held in conjunction with King Week. The Board of Preachers was established to carry forward the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., a 1948 Morehouse graduate, by recognizing clergy and lay leaders who embody his commitment to moral courage, justice, and the building of the beloved community. Inductees are chosen for their prophetic witness and their dedication to servant leadership in communities across the nation.
Mayo joins a distinguished class of 2026 inductees — including LaRita Horton Addison and Lawrence E. Aker III, among others — in receiving this honor, which is conferred through Morehouse’s Martin Luther King Jr. International Chapel. Reflecting on the weekend, Mayo described it as “truly an amazing honor to be included among so many amazing scholars, preachers, and faith leaders from across the globe.”
For the Ministry Leadership Center, this recognition reflects the kind of formation and leadership the institution seeks to cultivate. Mayo’s work at MLC — shaping academic vision and fostering community ministry — embodies precisely the integration of faith, scholarship, and justice that the Board of Preachers was created to celebrate.
Congratulations to Terence Mayo on this well-deserved honor.
