The Children’s & Youth Director is a full time position that provides vision and leadership oversight to Chesapeake Church’s Children’s and Youth Ministries. The seven children’s ministries include “The PARK,” “The TreeHouse,” “The Playground,” “Little Promises,” “Childcare,” “Special Needs,” and “Peake Kids Praise.” The youth ministries include Middle School & High School “Journey,” teen small groups, and special events and activities. This Director ensures that Children’s & Youth Ministry services, programming, and major events grow in innovation, scope, and excellence in harmony with the church’s mission and strategies.
CHURCH-WIDE LEADERSHIP
1. Casts church-wide vision for all children’s and youth ministries that is consistent with the church’s mission and values.
2. Inspires and develops leaders within all children’s and youth ministries.
3. Ensures leaders, plans, and resource applications are aligned to the Church’s vision, mission, values and goals.
4. Serves as liaison with outside organizations and develops partnerships that fuel the church’s overall strategies and produce Kingdom fruit.
MINISTRY LEADERSHIP
1. Oversees the creation and implementation of a comprehensive children’s program (infants through grade 5) that brings glory to God, is theologically sound, and ministers to children and their parents.
2. Oversees the creation and implementation of a comprehensive youth program (grades 6-12) that brings glory to God, is theologically sound and ministers to teens and their parents.
3. Establishes short and long-term plans for children’s and youth ministries, including goals and direction, creating new ministry opportunities, and evaluating existing programs.
4. Leads, models, and oversees our culture-of-care value through raising up Care Leaders and equipping them to care for our people.
5. Recruits, trains, and mentors youth and adult leaders who have a passion for shepherding and discipling children and teens.
6. Oversees the design, implementation, and growth of innovative and creative services, events, programs, and curriculum for children and youth.
7. Actively integrates family focus into church-wide activities and events.
8. Establishes and maintains effective communications with parents, keeping them informed of topics and themes being studied, special events, and church-wide events.
9. Performs and oversees the administrative duties of children’s and youth ministries, working closely with other team members and staff to ensure activities for children and teens are performed efficiently and effectively.
10. Designs and oversees policies and procedures to provide a safe, quality environment for children and youth.
11. Establishes and oversees a high standard of cleanliness and sanitation practices.
12. Proposes an annual budget to the Senior Pastor and Executive Director for this area of ministry by detailing expected monetary requirements for the upcoming year.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
• Bachelor’s degree from an approved Bible college, theological seminary or equivalent.
• A minimum of 5 years’ experience with leading a children’s or youth program.
In lieu of the above requirements, the Senior Pastor may consider other formal degrees and credentials, as well as a combination of ministry education, training and experience to meet the qualification requirements for this position.
