Job Summary

Responsibilities

  • Lead and Cultivate Youth Ministry (7th–12th Grade):
    Develop and implement a youth ministry that prioritizes spiritual growth, service, and inclusive community, where youth feel connected and valued. Ensure programming is consistent, engaging, and integrates youth into the life of the larger church.

  • Coordinate and Support Church Outreach Efforts:
    Partner with mission teams and local organizations to strengthen outreach relationships, including regular communication and involvement with mission partners like local schools. Encourage congregational participation in outreach as a natural expression of discipleship.
  • Provide Pastoral Care and Relational Leadership:
    Offer presence and care to youth, families, and the broader congregation, especially in times of transition or struggle. Serve as a visible, approachable leader who listens well and models authentic Christian life.

  • Relational and Inclusive Leadership Style:
    Demonstrates a servant-hearted and emotionally intelligent approach to ministry that welcomes youth of all backgrounds and personalities. Strong interpersonal skills and an inclusive spirit are essential in building trust and community.
  • Organized and Self-Responsible Ministry Practitioner:
    Capable of balancing planning and innovation with follow-through, especially when leading ministry in a post-pandemic, rebuilding context. Can work independently while collaborating effectively with volunteers and staff.
  • Alignment with UMC Theology and Parkway Hills Values:
    Must be affirming and  comfortable in a theologically progressive congregation, and able to navigate nuance and diversity in belief. A firm, compassionate faith paired with the humility to acknowledge spiritual gray areas is essential.
