Free Download: World Communion Sunday Intergenerational Worship Service

World Communion Sunday reminds us that we belong to a community spanning time and place—at Christ’s table we gather as equals, receiving the same meal that nourishes us to live as Christ’s body in the world. This week, every generation will practice that radical belonging together in the sanctuary, and be invited to carry that same love out into the world.

This resource is a menu of intergenerational worship offerings for engaging every person in the sanctuary on World Communion Sunday. Think of it as choose-your-own-adventure: you get to craft a truly intergenerational worship service that fits your congregation. Start small, and let it grow from there.

Mainline Protestant churches celebrate World Communion Sunday the first Sunday in October each year. It’s a way to call the church back to a shared table where division gives way to belonging and where our common life in Christ is stronger than the forces that seek to pull us apart.
