Weekly Summaries

Week 1 – Who we are

The goal of this session is to walk with young people in exploring who they are and their identity. Adolescence is a period of discovery, meaning-making, and identity formation. This lesson seeks to help young people find the grounding of their identity in love, but not just any love – in the overwhelming love of God that leads to the overwhelming love for those around us. Students will learn that the two cannot exist apart from one another, and in that love, they will begin to discover who they truly are.

Scripture – 1 John 4:7-21

Week 2 – Our Baggage

We all have burdens we carry. Our life experiences are not always positive, and they can leave scars, memories, and a myriad of feelings. Whether it’s a bad breakup or dealing with anxiety, young people need a space to share each other’s burdens and recognize that in doing so, Christ shares those burdens with them. This lesson aims to help young people reflect on the burdens they carry in life and explore how God desires to share those burdens.

Scripture – Matthew 11:28-30

Week 3 – Our Call

The purpose of this session is to remind students of their call to go out into the world to love and serve others. Yet they must understand that it’s not all easy. Our journey of faith in the world is filled with storms, challenges, and difficulties. Students will learn to pause and reorient themselves amid those difficulties. In looking toward Jesus, they’ll be reminded that they’re not alone. It’s Jesus who first called us. It’s Jesus who goes with us, giving us strength and motivation to love and serve others.

Scripture – Matthew 14:22-23

Week 4 – Wander

The objective of this session is to provide a platform for young people to explore and articulate their doubts. Doubt is a natural part of our faith journey, and it’s essential to guide young people in engaging with their doubts without fear. By grappling with our doubts, we open doors to ask more profound questions about God and our faith. Instead of avoiding doubt, embracing it can transform our faith and, in turn, us.

Scripture – John 20:24-29
