RESILIENCE IN THE OLD TESTAMENT

Yet the Bible shows that God doesn’t just watch from the sidelines; rather, God sustains, loves, and cares for us, even in the hardest moments. This series dives into the stories of Jeremiah, Hagar, Hezekiah, and Elijah to explore what resilience really looks like: not just surviving, but relying on God to support and guide us so that we can respond faithfully and courageously when life is challenging.
FAITHFULLY ENGAGING
This series seeks to explore what faithful engagement in a time of political and social division might look like. This series will explore this engagement through themes of citizenship, hospitality, justice, and peace. Each of these themes will explore the ways that we are called by God to love our neighbors and our enemies alike in a faithful way that affirms the created goodness in each person while also emphasizing the real need for reconciliation. While these are complex problems that will not be solved simply through this lesson, the hope is that leaders and students alike begin to question the ways that they and others engage with people and how they might do that differently in a way that demonstrates the presence and peace of God.
FED: A THEOLOGY OF MEALS
This series is focused around the way that food, feeding others, and being fed reveal who we are called to be as Christians. This series involves weekly hands-on activities such as games, logic puzzles, and skits with randomly assigned cast members, paired with thoughtful reflective activities. While each session is built around food, feeding, or being fed, it is always an entry point to complex concepts like mortality, worthiness, inclusion, and embodiment. This series is meant to challenge teenagers and leaders alike to consider how we might be able to engage in our faith with every bite.
ADVENT: A VOICE CRIES OUT
This Advent, we’re following John the Baptist and Mary, two young people who shook things up before Jesus even took his first breath. John’s out in the wilderness yelling, “Get ready, something big is coming!” while Mary is singing her prophetic song about God flipping the world upside down and lifting up the ones who’ve been pushed aside. Together, they remind us that Advent isn’t just about waiting around; it’s about joining God’s movement of hope, peace, joy, and love right now. Their courage calls us to speak up, make some good trouble, and look for wonder in unexpected places, because God’s story of justice and love is still unfolding, and we get to be part of it.
WORSHIP: EVERY DAY, EVERYWHERE
This series explores the heart, soul, purpose, and place of worship. We begin with the heart of worship—that is, God’s desire that worship leads to justice. Then we look at the soul of worship: the story of our faith that we gather to remember. Week three explores the purpose of worship—to renew our spirits to continue the work of loving God and loving our neighbor in our everyday lives. And we finish with the reminder that we can worship anywhere—not just in a sanctuary. Participants will discover the value and importance of worship beyond the music.
HONESTY
Honesty isn’t just about not lying—it’s about living with integrity in every part of life. This series explores honesty with God, ourselves, and others. We’ll discover God’s design for integrity, practice speaking truth in love, learn humility and compassion in our relationships, and experience the freedom of confession and forgiveness. Honesty isn’t always easy, but it opens the door to real faith, deeper connections, and a life shaped by God’s love.
LENT: TENDING THE SOIL
Lent is all about getting ready for new life—kind of like spring training for your soul. The word “Lent” actually comes from an old word about the days getting longer as spring shows up. But nothing grows in spring unless the soil gets some care first. That’s what this six-week series is about: tending the “soil” of our lives so God can grow something good in us. We’ll look at the life of Jesus and explore simple spiritual practices that help us clear out the junk, make room for growth, and get ready for the new life God is already growing underground.
PETER
Peter seems to be bold in the ways that he interacts with Jesus and in turn sees and experiences things outside those of the other disciples. Peter chooses to brave these “unknowns” in stepping out of the boat, being named the “rock” on which the church would be built, new ways of seeing love, and even in doubt, building a solid faith that can withstand life’s curveballs. Peter showcases bold faith and a never-give-up attitude even when he gets it wrong. This can be a great reminder for youth and leaders that we don’t always get it right, but through grace and love, God, through Jesus, often shows us ways forward to gain new insights in moments that feel like failure, confusion, or unease.
INBREAKING KINGDOM
We often think of the Kingdom of God as something we experience in the future after we die. While we will one day experience the restoration of all things and God’s reign on earth, we can participate in God’s Kingdom right now. In this series, we will look at four ways of living that are countercultural to the kingdoms of this world. We will experience the tension of embracing these ideas through a series of disorienting dilemmas and process them as a group through cultural and theological lenses. Our goal is to practice aligning with the ways of God’s Kingdom so that we can experience God’s Kingdom here.
BONUS: CHOICES IN MIDDLE SCHOOL
Although parents and legal guardians make big choices for our middle schoolers, such as where they live or which schools they go to, our middle schoolers frequently make decisions that feel just as big. Every day, they are presented with different options and paths to choose from, and it’s important that they choose wisely. This series will help them do just that. In this series, our middle schoolers will explore and reflect on the choices they make regarding time, people, actions, and, ultimately, themselves. You’ll discuss what God’s hope is for their lives within these choices, how we discern the choices that best image God’s love, and the intentionality and care Jesus followers need when making such choices.
