We currently seek a candidate for our church’s director of youth and family’s ministry. Rayne Memorial Church’s youth group serves approximately 20-25 students each week. The director would oversee and guide youth Sunday school (9:45am weekly), Sunday evening activities (5:30-7:00pm weekly) and Wednesday evening activities (5:30-7:00pm weekly), as well as seasonal retreats and annual summer camp experience.
The director’s purpose is to equip and encourage middle school and high school aged students to serve one another, the larger congregation, and Rayne’s broader community as Christ’s disciples. The director is also tasked with efforts to develop and implement youth ministry small groups and mission plans in order to inspire Rayne’s middle school students, high school students, and their families to engage in opportunities to grow in godly wisdom, grace, mercy, and justice.
Organize and develop small group youth gatherings for Middle School and High School students for fellowship and Bible study
Plan and lead biannual retreats (lock-ins or other modes of gathering) for emphasis in spiritual formation in the ministry of Jesus
Plan, organize and lead youth camp – an annual summer experience for Middle School and High School students for 5-7 nights at an “away camp”
Encourage mission opportunities for Middle School and High School students amid the existing missions in which Rayne Memorial Church already participates
Equip and invite parents and other adult volunteers to participate regularly in youth and family ministry
Strong interpersonal skills to relate with students and parents
Strong written and verbal communication skills to engage the congregation weekly
Live and serve in an amazing and unique context – interurban New Orleans
Potential housing is available as needed (on campus, studio apartment)
