Job Summary

Description

The Director of Youth Ministry will oversee and grow the middle school and high school
ministries at Grove Presbyterian Church, fostering spiritual growth, biblical knowledge,
service, and fellowship among youth. This role includes planning, organizing, and
facilitating programs, building relationships with youth and their families, and integrating
youth into the broader life of the church.

The position may be structured as part-time or full-time based on the candidate’s
qualifications and the church’s needs, with responsibilities scaled accordingly.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities
Program Leadership & Development
– Plan, coordinate, and oversee weekly Sunday School for middle and high school students
(separate classes if numbers allow).
– Organize and lead monthly youth group activities (fun, fellowship, service projects, and
spiritual growth events).
– Develop larger annual events such as mission trips, retreats (e.g., Krislund winter retreat),
or special outreach programs.
– Incorporate youth into worship and congregational life (e.g., scripture reading, music,
service leadership).

Relationship Building & Pastoral Care

– Build authentic relationships with youth and their families, providing spiritual
mentorship.
– Create a welcoming, inclusive, and safe environment for all participants.
– Encourage youth to invite friends and participate in community outreach.
Volunteer Recruitment & Coordination
– Recruit, train, and support volunteers for Sunday School, youth group events, and service
projects.
– Ensure all volunteers comply with Safe Church policies, including background checks.
Administration & Communication
– Work with the Youth Ministry Committee and Christian Growth Committee to guide
program direction.
– Manage youth ministry budget responsibly and submit expense requests as needed.
– Communicate effectively with youth, parents, and the congregation using multiple
channels (email, text, social media, printed materials).

Qualifications
– Personal relationship with Jesus Christ and commitment to the mission of Grove
Presbyterian Church.
– Experience working with youth in any setting, including church, school, or camp.
– Strong interpersonal skills; ability to relate well to middle and high school students.
– Organizational and leadership skills, including event planning and volunteer coordination.
– Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
– Proficiency to communicate effectively across multiple platforms including Email,
Facebook, Snapchat, and text messaging etc.
-Musical or athletic abilities, experience leading games, or creative arts skills are desirable.
– Seminary or formal theological training is not required but may be an asset.
– Must comply with Safe Church policies and complete required clearances.

$15,000-$50,000
