Job Summary

Responsibilities

  • Lead and Develop Youth Programs:
    Plan, coordinate, and lead engaging programming for middle and high school students, including youth group, Sunday School, retreats, service projects, and special events that align with the church’s mission and values.
  • Build and Maintain Relationships:
    Cultivate strong, authentic relationships with youth, families, and volunteers to foster a welcoming and inclusive community, with particular attention to serving a diverse group of students from various school and socioeconomic backgrounds.
  • Recruit and Equip Volunteers:
    Implement a strategic, year-round volunteer recruitment and training plan, empowering adult mentors, confirmation leaders, and event volunteers to engage confidently in youth ministry.
  • Communicate Clearly and Consistently:
    Ensure regular, effective communication with parents, students, and church leadership to keep the congregation informed and engaged in youth ministry efforts.

Desired Skills

  • Strong Communication and Public Speaking Skills:
    Able to communicate effectively in both large-group and small-group settings, with experience teaching and leading discussions for youth and adults.

  • Proven Reliability and Organizational Strength:
    Demonstrated ability to plan ahead, manage multiple priorities, and follow through on ministry initiatives and events from start to finish.
  • Relational Leadership and Initiative:
    A self-starter who can work independently while building meaningful relationships and inspiring others to contribute to a shared ministry vision.
  • Inclusive, Vision-Oriented Ministry Mindset:
    Commitment to creating inclusive spaces for youth and aligning ministry programs with Idlewild’s progressive mission, while also developing a long-term vision for a vibrant, sustainable youth ministry.

$50,000-$60,000 per year
