Summary of Student Director Position
Union Church is a multicultural, multigenerational, and inclusive church that pursues flourishing together. The Student Director position plays a vital part in our church as we develop our students in Christ and partner together to create a unified culture at Union.  The ideal candidate is a strong Christ follower and team player who cares for students, develops leaders, exercises entrepreneurial leadership, and collaborates well with others. 

The Student Director position is responsible for providing leadership, spiritual care, and community development in areas that will include: student ministry, family support, outreach, equipping, community relations, congregational care, and other areas as agreed upon with the Senior Pastor.

Working Conditions and other information 

  • A flexible weekly work schedule that includes mandatory Sunday hours, with added responsibilities for holidays and special events as assigned.
  • Requires at least 1-2 evenings each week.
  • Attend all functions and staff meetings as required for leadership and staff.

Responsibilities

The Scope:

  • Partner together with Senior Pastor, staff, and congregation to provide care and leadership for students (middle and high school), parents, guardians, and volunteer mentors.
  • Build on current vision and execute ministry effectively with clear goals and benchmarks
  • Plan, execute, and lead relevant and engaging groups: Bible studies, discussions, trainings, and gatherings
  • Creatively lead our student ministry (Rise Together).
    • Develop and execute an annual plan
    • Manage budget
    • Lead regular Gatherings for Rise Together
    • Coordinate and support mentor/mentee relationships and connections
    • Organize and execute outings/events
    • Meetings to equip and coach our mentors/volunteers
  • Establish connections and partnerships with local high schools.

Desired Skills

Education 

  • Minimum of High School Diploma or GED; College or Masters Level Education preferred.
  • 1 to 3 years of related work experience

Leadership Experience

  • Experience leading care ministries and coaching/empowering teams
  • Experience leading student and/or college ministries
  • Experience organizing, equipping, and sending out Christ followers to disciple others in a variety of contexts
  • Experience making disciples who follow Jesus and seek the common good

Abilities 

  • Strong interpersonal skills and exude a positive attitude
  • Must exemplify a high level of spiritual leadership and personal maturity
  • Congregational Leadership:
    • Ability to lead teams of people, including: participants, volunteers, leaders, and staff
    • Ability to identify new community development opportunities and start, develop, and maintain an effective student ministry
    • Ability to speak and teach in a variety of spaces and engage people across diversities, backgrounds, and cultures

Overall Skills 

  • Effective at time management and following up 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills 
  • Strong spiritual maturity 
  • Flexible and comfortable in diplomatic interactions 
  • Problem Solving
  • Basic Technical skills in Google Suite and data management
  • Maintain composure during stressful situations

Salary

$25,000 – $28,000
